let it all go

one of the hardest lessons we learn in life is how to let go.  moving on from painful memories, past loves, a difficult past, it isn't easy.  sometimes clinging to the memory is easier than accepting a world where that life no longer exists.  but if there is one thing i have learned it is that there is beauty in letting go of the pain and embracing the exciting and sometimes frightening new world that lies ahead.  it is truly liberating.  today, try to let go of the things that have been burdening you, that have been weighing you down.  embrace the reality of what you are going through, no matter how difficult, and take comfort in the fact that a beautiful new world lies before you.

live for you

with all the things we have going on in life it can sometimes seem to be too overwhelming to deal with. it is so important to take a step back, gain a new perspective, and do what is truly best for you.  we all need to live in a way that is true to our genuine selves.  so every day, take what you need.

flakes dancing in the wind

  snow has officially over taken the east coast, coating the shore in a whimsical layer of white.  i have to admit, i have been reluctant to embrace this time of year, especially after enduring the wrath of sandy.  but the first snowfall of the season has reminded me why i have always adored the chillier months.  days spent cuddling up on the couch with my pup, cozied up in my beloved winter sweaters and cute little wool socks, sipping on my signature hot chocolate, watching the snow fall and dance outside my window.  pulling out long forgotten winter coats from the back of the closet and layering on the scarves and mittens and beanies, all necessities for bitter east coast winter, and some of my favorite cold weather pieces.  oh how i love these snowy winter days.

oh sandy

and so it has begun.  sandy has descended on the east coast, essentially shutting down the entire coast line. but im sure you know this already since the news is treating this like the apocalypse. while i am dreading the prospect of no power for upwards of 7 days, i am loving the downtime that sandy has afforded me.  i plan on spending plenty of time in my bed with my puppy, a good book, and a cup of tea.  nothing to do and all day to do it. oh the possibilities are endless...

look at this stuff, isnt it neat?

i felt that a little mermaid reference was ever so appropriate.  i've posted about my anthro outings before, and i must say every time i drop in i am met with an overwhelming amount of inspiration.  thus, i give you, anthropologie part due.

my beautiful best friend hailee!

would it be completely inappropriate to live in anthro?  a girl can dream.

long lost summer days

i finally got to downloading the many pictures from my camera and happened upon these snapshots from a beautiful summer day.  i was leaving work and was so captured by the beauty of the day, i had to commemorate it with a few pictures.  makes me long for those hazy, lazy summer days once again.  ah, memories.

taking it easy

so its no secret that i am more than a little infatuated with the perfectly disheveled, model off duty look.  to me there is nothing sexier than a slouchy t shirt paired with destroyed boyfriend jeans and a pair of amazing heels.  and maybe an oversized sweater.  or blazer as the case may be.  heels may not be included in everyone definition of "casual dressing" but i've always been one to stray from convention. viva la casual.
